General Questions

What is Florida Gun Storage?

Florida Gun Storage is a dedicated firearm storage facility in Fort Lauderdale offering secure, legal, and climate-controlled storage for handguns, rifles, and NFA items. Whether you’re traveling, boarding a cruise, or going through a personal transition, we provide trusted, private storage options tailored to your needs.

Where are you located?

We are conveniently located at 1750 E Commercial Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, just minutes from major highways, cruise terminals, and the Fort Lauderdale International Airport.

Storage Process and Requirements

How does the firearm storage process work?

Step 1: Bring your unloaded firearm(s) and valid government-issued ID to our facility.
Step 2: Complete a quick storage agreement and receive a retrieval receipt.
Step 3: We secure your firearm in a locked, monitored, climate-controlled area.
Step 4: When you return, you’ll complete a required ATF Form 4473 and FDLE background check before retrieval, per federal and state law.

Do I need a background check to drop off my firearm?

No. Background checks are only required when retrieving your firearm from storage.

Storage Security and Capabilities

How are firearms stored?

All firearms are placed in secured, climate-controlled, and constantly monitored storage zones. Access is strictly limited to trained, authorized personnel to ensure safety and confidentiality.

Can you store NFA and Class 3 items?

Yes. We are equipped to handle suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other Class 3 items. Proper NFA documentation is required at drop-off and pickup.

Compliance and Legal Requirements

Why is a background check required for retrieval?

Federal and state laws classify firearm retrieval as a firearm transfer. As a licensed FFL, we are required to complete an ATF Form 4473 and FDLE background check before returning any firearm to its owner.

Is Florida Gun Storage legally compliant?

Absolutely. We operate under all ATF and FDLE guidelines and maintain full compliance with local, state, and federal firearm storage and transfer regulations.

Travel and Cruise Concerns

Why do cruise passengers need firearm storage?

Firearms are strictly prohibited on all cruise ships and terminals. Attempting to board with one can result in fines, arrest, or denial of boarding. Our facility offers a secure solution for passengers needing short-term storage before embarkation.

What happens if I arrive at port with a firearm?

You may face immediate denial of boarding or law enforcement involvement. We recommend securely storing your firearm with us beforehand to avoid complications and protect your rights.

Pricing and Payment

How much does it cost to store a firearm?

Our pricing depends on storage duration and number of firearms. All listed prices include sales tax and necessary background check or transfer fees. Long-term rates are discounted compared to short-term monthly plans.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards. Payment is required at the time of drop-off.

Other Considerations

Can someone else pick up my firearm?

No. Only the original individual who signed the storage agreement may retrieve the firearm after successfully passing a background check.

What if I need longer storage than expected?

If your plans change, you can contact us to extend your storage agreement. Firearms left without communication past the agreed period may be subject to legal forfeiture under Florida law.
